1. Who we are
“Skrynx,” “we,” and “us” refer to the developer of the Skrynx iOS application. This Privacy Policy applies to the Skrynx app and the related pages hosted at skrynx.pages.dev.
2. A local-first design
Most of what you create in Skrynx lives on your device. That includes name cards (sightings), lookout pins, species library entries, voice notes, photos you attach, favorites, blocked authors, reports you file locally, coin balance, and preferences.
3. Information we process
3.1 Content you create
- Species names, notes, lookout titles, and captions
- Photos and icons you choose from Camera or Photo Library
- Optional voice notes you record
- Plaza ticket stubs you publish (species, place text, caption, cover, display name)
3.2 Device & purchase signals
- A local watcher identifier used to label your plaza posts (e.g. Watcher #XXXX or a display name you set)
- In-app purchase receipts processed by Apple; coin credits are recorded on device after a successful purchase
- Notification scheduling for Dawn Walk / place reminders you enable (handled by iOS; we do not sell this data)
3.3 Optional network features
If remote plaza sync is configured, stubs you publish, delete, or report may be sent to our backend so other watchers can see public stubs and so moderation tools can work. When remote credentials are not configured, Plaza remains local-only.
4. Permissions
- Camera / Photos — only to capture or pick images you attach to cards, lookouts, or plaza stubs.
- Microphone — only when you record a voice note.
- Notifications — only if you turn on Dawn Walk or place reminders.
- Tracking (ATT) — Skrynx declares App Tracking Transparency as required by Apple; the app is not built to track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising.
Skrynx does not use continuous GPS tracking for lookouts; places are labels you manage yourself.
5. How we use information
- To provide and improve field notebooks, exports (PDF / HD name cards), and plaza sharing
- To fulfill coin purchases and unlockable layouts you choose to buy
- To honor blocks, reports, and content you delete
- To respond when you contact support
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Sharing
- Apple — processes In-App Purchases under Apple’s terms and privacy policy.
- You — when you export PDFs, share snapshots, or publish plaza stubs, you choose what leaves the device.
- Service providers — if plaza sync or hosting is enabled, limited technical providers may process stub content solely to run that feature.
- Legal — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect users from serious harm.
7. Retention
Local data remains until you delete it, clear all data in Me, or remove the app. Remote plaza objects you publish may remain until you delete them or request removal. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request.
8. Children
Skrynx is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). Do not use the app to submit personal information about a child.
9. Your choices
- Edit or delete sightings, lookouts, library items, and your own plaza posts in-app
- Change or clear your display name
- Unfavorite, block authors, or report stubs
- Use Me → Clear All Data to wipe local notebooks (this cannot be undone)
- Email us to ask about access or deletion of remote plaza content tied to your watcher key
10. Security
We use reasonable technical measures appropriate for a consumer field notebook. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure; please keep device passcodes enabled and avoid sharing sensitive details in captions or voice notes.
11. International users
If you use Skrynx outside the region where our servers or hosts operate, your information may be processed in other countries that may have different data-protection laws.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
